Camden has been a playground for horse enthusiasts since the early 1900s. What drew the horse lovers to the area long ago remains the same: wonderful climate, beautiful country, excellent footing, charming accommodations, fine dining and a welcoming community. Add modern equestrian sporting events and the Camden area is hard to top.
Camden is a horse town at its core; in fact, the horse industry is credited as one of the top revenue-generators for Camden. During the winter as many as 1500 thoroughbreds reside in area training centers. Thoroughbreds account for about 50% of the horse population in Kershaw County. Saddlebreds, Pintos, Quarter Horses, Appaloosas, Warmbloods, Paint Horses, Ponies, Arabians, Tennessee Walking Horses and Morgans make up the other 50%.
Camden is a community that welcomes all specialties. It's a true equestrian melting pot.
